» LBt Telkqbaph.] luhitkd pbsBs association.] Melbouene, 7th July. Sir Alexander Stuart, Premier of New South Wales, has intimated his intention to visit Melbourne this week. Tho two Premiers will oonsulfc npon several subjects, among whioh the improvement of tho moans of naval defence will bo the moat important. The subject of looking the Murray to render it navigable will also be discussed. A scene occurred in the House of Assembly on Thursday, when Mr. Bent insinuated that Mr. Service had made an effort to damage the floating of the loan in 1882. Mr. Service Baid the whole thing was a fabrication. Mr. Bent withdrew his words, but spoko of damaging letters, and said Mr. Service -was behind the soenes. Mr. Service then exclaimed, " That is a lie." At a later hour Mr. Service expressed his regret at having used a word that tranurossed the limits of propriety. The rabbit-proof fenoe betwoen Viotoria and South Australia will cost £25,000. Dion Bouoioault, the eminent dramatist aotor, arrived in Melbourne on Satnrday last, accompanied by his son and daughters.. They will appear at the Theatre Eoyal in " The Shaughraun." A telegram has been received by the Government from the Agent-General in reference to the recent application made by this colony for additional spaoe in the Colonial Exhibition. The Agent-General enquired, on behalf of tho London Commission, if the colonies would be favourable to the abandonment of the idea of providing a united- Australian court in addition to the separate conrts provided for each colony. This telegram was referred to the Victorian Commission, with the result that yesterday a telegram was despatched informing him that Victoria and New South Wales would agree to the abolition of tho nnited oonrt on the understanding that the space thus made available be divided proportionately between the coloniea.
