Glover closed a highly successful series of temperance addresses here to-night, the building in which the meetings were held being crammed on every occasion. The mission has been highly successful, 800 having taken the pledge and 1000 donned the bine ribbon. Wahgantji, 18th August. At the inquest on the man named William H. Paice, who was found burned to death yesterday, the jury returned a verdict that i deceased died from the effects of being burnt ! in a furze hedge, but how the fire occurred there is no evidence to show. WOODVILLE, THISDAT. Mrs. Hall, the wife of a tradesman here, found her child, of three months old, dead in bed this morning, having overlaid it during the night. The farmers here having failed to guarantee sufficient milk, the dairy factory for 400 oows which has been erected, will not be opened this season as intended. Auckland, This Dat. The body of Eosina Smith's baby waß found by the police buried in Mason's garden, Parnell-road. The woman was taken up to Purnell in a pp.b by the detective*, and when 1-n-Kiijr the g-irrteu she saiil, "Itrn 1 , take me in there j it's there." She now states that it was ill, and she gave it a dose of medicine to make it quiet, when it died. She also states that she wu deceived by a married man.
