The natives took possession of the " be3t stockade on the coast," saying thit they intended to live there in future. The organ and theatrical properties have been all shifted here, and the theatre itself may possibly soon follow. Recruits are being drilled regularly the same as usual. The Fort Kolleston guard has been doae away wifh The telegraph office in one of the bastions of Fort Parihaka is nearly finished, and telegraph poles are rapidly being erected. Stairs are also being made from the lower camp (1 and 6 Companies) to Fort Parihaka. A fine mess •w.hare, 140 feet long, is being erected on tho aido of the hill for Nos. 3 and 4 Companies, and the camp ia assuming a shipshape form. Some men are told off every day for road-work, and others for the camp fatigues. Major Goring is having a house built here, and it is expected to be ultimately his particular station. There is a whisper abroad that Major Tuke 'and No. 4 Company will be sent to the East Coast.
