SUPREME COURT TRIALS.
In the case of James White, Frank Carey, Jane Brown, and Margaret Sutton, tried yesterday, for robbery with violence, White and Sutton were acquitted, there not beihft sufficient evidence ayrainstwthem. At 20 minutes past 10 last night, the jury returned a verdict of Guilty of robbery without violence against the other two. To-day the quartet were indicted on another charge-of robbery when armed ; but the Crown refused to prosecute. The two women and the men (sic) were found gfuilty. His Honour sentenced Janet Brown, on the conviction of ytsterday, to 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour ; Frank Carey,, on two convictions—the first to three years and the second to eight years' penal servitude, the first j sentence to be included in the second ; and ' i James White to six years' penal servitude. John Sparkes, for malicious injury to property, got threa months' hard labour. Charles Chamberlain, charged with indecent assiult, was acquicted.
