I THE EDUCATION BOARD OF THE i DISTRICT OF WELLINGTON. THE Second Examination for Eight h'cholarehips, tenable for two years from Ist January, 1881, offered by the Educaiion Board, will be held aimnltaneoualy in the Normal School, Wellington, aiid in the Greytown School, on WEDNESDAY, the 16th November, at 10 a.m. The examination is open to all children, whether they are receiving their instruction in Public Schools or not, under 15 yeara of age on the lft day of November next. The names, ages, and addresses of all intending competitors should be forwarded to the Secretary not later than the 10th November. The scholarships are thus appropriated : — One scholarship of £30 annual value, and one scholarship of £20 annual velue, open to all children attending any school in thg City of Wellington. One scholarship of £30 annual value, open to all children attending any school in the Wairarapa District. One scholarship of £30 annual value, open to all children attending any school in the Wellington Country District. Also one scholarship of £20 annual value, two scholarships of £15 annual value, and one scholarship of £10 annual value, open to all children in any school in the Wellington Education District. These scholarships are given subject to diligence and good condnct on the part of the f-cholars, and the regulations contained in the addendum to c^use 51 of " 'J he Education Act, 1877," which reada as follows : — " The successful competitor for any such Scholarship shall receive the amount of his or her Scholarship only bo long as he or Bhe shall continue hia or her education at any School or Educational Institution under the control of the Board at which the higher branches of education are taught, but if there be no such school or institution in the district where the holder of the Scholarship resides, then at such Bchool, subject to inspection by a Public School Inspector, as the Board may approve of." The subjects of examination are those prescribed for Standard VI., by Order in Council, of date 24th September, 1878. but no scholarships will be awarded unless twothirds of the possible number of marks are obtained.
