ST. PETER'S PARISH MEETING.
The parishioners of St. Peter's held their annnal meeting in the church last evening, the Yen. Archdeacon Stock presiding. Mr. S. Waters read the annual report, which showed that the cost of the new church amounted to .£72 1 3 5s 3d, and the sum prescribed by deed (£4000) had been raised by debentures bearing a rate of 8 per cent. This was tho gross outstanding liability of the parish. Regarding the offertories and payment of scat rents, it was noticed with pleasure that there was an improvement in these as compared with last yoar, and it was hoped that the increase would continue during tho present financial year. The vestry begged to thank the Archdeacon for the chancel and communion fnrnishings, Mr. S. Dixon for a gift of linoleum, to be laid down in the centre aislo, Mra. Harding for a cloth for the communion-table, Mr. Angelo Forrest (the organist), the choir, and those who had taken up debentures and aubsoribed so liberally. With regard to the bells, considerable disappointment had been experienced on account of the discovery that tho vibration from tho ringing of the bells was bo great that, if continued, serious injury was likely to be done to the building. Tho vestry had been led to believe that tho tower would be quite equal to the strain of ringing even twice tho weight of the bells now üßed, and therefore the senpe of disappointment was doubly felt. The penny-bank, which was progressing satisfactorily, showed a balance in hand of JE33O 2s 3d, representing 344 children. From the balance-shoot, it appeared that the receipts on the bells account were .£B3B 8s 1 1 (including a loan of .£3OO from the Archdeacon), and the disbursements £786 7s. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted, and tho election of officers for the enrrent year resulted as follows :—lncumbent's: — Incumbent's churohwarden, Mr. E. Anderson ; parishioners' churchwarden, Mr. J. A. Plimmer; vestry, Messrs. E. Dixon, S. Watots, E. W. Morrah, H. Startup, R. Hunter, J. B. Redward, R. S. Lodger, E. Pearce, G. Didsbury, and H. Rose; auditors, Messrs. J. H. Bethune and W. Widdop. Mr. Forrest performed several selections on tho organ during the evening.
