NEW PLYMOUTH. This Day.
A heavy N.E. gale, with occasional thunder storms, has prevailed here since Monday night, preventing the steamers from calling or being communicated with. The Rangatira and Hawea, from the Manukau, passed on. The rain has b^flpn so heavy that the road between Normanby and Stratford has been rendered impassable even for a horse, and the southern mails have been detained at Hawera.
