SINGULAR AFFRAY. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Timaru, This Day. Sixteen men have been arrested on a charge of riot and assault in connection with a fight for the possession of a flock of sheep, which occurred at Pig Hunting Creek yesterday. Warrants are out for several others. Eleven are now being criminally prosecuted. The Boeep in dispute belonged to Messrs. Meek and Scott,, of Oamaru, and were sold to one M'Leish _by Scott, and subsequently seized by direction of Meek, who believed the sale to be fraudulent. _ The fight for the possession took place between MoLeish and his men and Meek's representatives, who has also received authority to retain the sheep, pending the decision of the Supreme Court in reference to the partnership properly. The prosecuting council asks, that the eleven men, including McLeish, should be committed for trial. The case will occupy the Court all day. v- ~
