23rd May. The new burgess roll for 1879 and 1880 con-tains-the names of 1796 voters, being an increase from the previous year of 256 names. The LoDg Tunnel Company has gone into liquidation. At the Supreme Court to-day William Mann was charged with deserting from the Alastor, and Matthew Smith with harboring him. Mann was sentenced to two months, and Smith fined 10s and costs. Sarah Galbraith, charged with concealment of birth, was remanded. Sir George Grey communicated with the Mayor of Auckland expressing regret that, owing to the pressure of Ministerial business at Wellington, he cannot remain in Auckland to receive the Governor in person. The Native Minister will come on to Auckland to represent Ministers during his Excellency's visit. Should the Governor make a visit to this city after the session, the Premier will make it his business to accompany him. At the meeting of the Young Men's Christian Association to-night, the secretary said that the debt of £1000 had been cleared off since the mission of Dr. Somerville.
