A BRAVE GIRL. (Kyneton Guardian, 5th ApriL)

A commendable rescue of a drowning brother was made on Wednesday last by a little girl named Ellis, the daughter of some -visitors of that name who are at present residing at Mrs. Bayne's, on the bank of the Campaspe, which reflects great credit upon the courageous little heroine. The two children were playing about the banks of the Campaspe, in the vicinity of the Piper-Btreet Bridge, when the boy, who is stated to be about eight years old, accidentally tripped and was precipitated Into • deep waterhole, head foremost. Unable to extricate himself from the really dangerous position in which his want of caution had placed him, the little fellow flodndered and splashed about in an excited minuet for a Second or two, and was on the point of sinking when his brave little sister, who is only abont twelve years old, courageously threw herself into the river to his rescue. The act attracted the attention of Mr. Wm. Thomson, who waa passing at the time, and although the children coold not swim", they succeeded in buoying 'themselves up till assistance arrived, when they were brought ashore/ nothing the worse of the accident beyond having received a thorough and somewhat unexpected drenching.
