NAPIER. 3rd April.

Yesterday two little children about three years old, named Thomas Mansfield and Amelia Hawkins, were drowned in a lagoon at tbe Spit, at the back of the New Zealand Company's stores. They had been playing,- and tumbled in. An inquest was held to-day, and a verdict of accidentally drowned returned. 4th April. It is stated here that a charge has been made against Mr. Kinross, and that a summons will be served in a few days at the instance of Mr. Bets. The case is to be heard before Mr. Mansford, R.M., in Wellington. The cause is alleged perjury, arising out of evidence given before the Legislative Council in 1870 with regard to the purchase of a block of land.
