CHRISTCHURCH. 18th March.
The Minister for Public Works left by the express train tbis morning for Dunedia, where he will remiin until about the 26th, when he returns to Wellington to meet the Governor. During his stay in Christchurch he has accepted contracts for the Waipara section of the Amberley-Hurunui railway (£23,000) He has also ordered the additions to the hospital to be proceeded with to the extent of £10,000. At a meeting of the City Council tbis evening it was resolved to offer two prizes of £100 and £20 respectively for the best designs for a Town Hall. The cricket match Christchurch v. Titnaru resulted in a one-innings victory for Christchurch, the scores being — Christchurch 250, and Titnaru in both innings 216.
