THE HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

- 1 The summer exhibition of the Wellington Horticultural Society was held to-day in the Athenseum Hall. The show unquestionably t is one of the best seen in Wellington for some years, and the display excited general admira- . tion. The |shrubs, foliage plants, fruit and vegetables are particularly fine. THe flowers have suffered much from yesterday's violent storm, but, considering the unfavorable cirenmstances, are remarkably good. Some superb begonies are shown by Mr. H. Travers, which fairly divide the public admiration with Mr. F. Cooper's gigantic cucumbers, some - twenty or thirty of the latter each measuring i: over 2ft in length. Pressure on our space precludes a detailed description, but we may mention that the chief prize-vginners are Messrs. H. Travers, J. Burne, M'Kay, M. Reed, Duck, laing, Pring, Duncan, M*Nab, Cooper, T. Mason. Pegden. Hunter, M.H.R., Bramley, Mrs. M Nab, Miss Hales, and Miss Kirk. The show will be open this evening.
