THORNDON WESLEYAN ANNIVERSARY.

? — The sixth anniversary of the Molesworthstreet Wesleyan Church was celebrated yesterday evening by a tea and public meeting, the former being held in the new school-room, and the latter in tbe church. The weather was very unfavorable to a large attendance, but the proceedings passed off very satisfactorily notwithstanding. The public meeting was presided over by the Rev. E. J. Williams, who expressed himself extremely gratified with his experience, during the short time he had been in charge of the church. The trustees* report, which was read by Mr. Watt, stated that the attendance on the Sabbath services, while not by any means what the trustees could wish it to be, had yet, during' the year, showed pleasing signs of improvement. The report also referred in term* of hearty congratulation to the completion of the new schoolroom, the chief credit being given to tha ladies of the congregatijn for the success of the efforts made in this direction. A bazaar got up by them was held last October, and the results were so satisfactory that the trustees bad been able to erect the building and furnish it without leaving on it a single penny of debt. (Loud applause.) The trustees afeo expressed their thanks to Mr. E. Fraser Jones, who freely gave his services as architect of tue building. The total receipts for ail purposes during the year in connection with the church amounted to £664 8s 6d. (Applause.) Addresses were also delivered by the Revs. H. B. Redstone, T. Harrington, and others, and the proceedings were enlivened by tbe excellent singing ot the choir of the Mannersstreet Church, led by Mr Manning. A vote of thanks to the ladies, the choir, <see, vris carried with acclamation on the motion of Mr. Lawrie, and the meeting terminated with the benediction. It may be mentioned that the new schoolroom is a handsome and convenient building, 50ft. by 30ft., and reflects credit both on the architect, Mr. Fraser Jones, and the contractors, Messrs. Hunter and Menzies. Tbe amount of the contract was £285, but this was subsequently increased by about £60 by the expense of the fittings.
