CRIMINAL SITTINGS. YaSTBRDAT. (Before his Honor the Chief Justice.) TRUB BILLS. After we went to press yesterday, the Grand Jury returned true bills in the following cases : — Philip G. Murtagh, assault and wounding; Charles Schmidt, stealing from a dwelling ; James Murphy, rape; Andrew Falloon, assault; James Allan Mackie, forgery. ATTEMPTHD RAPB ON A LITTLE GIRL. James Murphy was charged on two indictments with a rape and an indecent assault ,upon Laura Cooper, aged nine years, the daughter of the postmaster at Greytown. Mr. Izard prosecuted for the Crown; Mr. Cowan defended prisoner. The evidence was, of course, unfit for publication. The offence was committed on the 25th November, in broad daylight, as the child was proceeding home from school.
