The sunken man-of-war Eurydice has been towed into Portsmouth. The court-martial attributed no blame to anybody. By a railway collision at Sittingbourne, eight persons were killed and thirty injured. A storm destroyed the town of Miskolcz in Hungary. A hundred lives were lost. The money market report states that Australian securities are disorganised, in consequence of anticipated new loans. It is believed that the projected Victorian loan of four millions will prove a failure. New Zealand 5 per cent, consolidated are 101 ; New Zealand 4J, 94. A double murder, of a most atrocious kind, took place at Northampton, where a sergeant of militia shot a quarter-master and a paysergeant. A large number of prizes have been awarded to Victoria by the Paris Exhibition Commissioners, including gold, silver, and bronze medals. The Sussex match with the Australian Cricketers resulted in a draw. In the match, Australians v. Players of England, the Players in their first innings scored 87 ; Australians, 77. Many of the best men amongst the Players were excluded, owing to a dispute about payment.
