Arrived— Rotorua, from Sydney. Baker and Farren's dramatic company of 20 members are aboard. She brings 460 tons of cargo for Auckland and 234 tons lor the South. Passengers for Wellington— Messrs. Her captain reports that when about six miles off Waikato he pickod up a ship's boat, 18ft long, painted white over blue inside, black over white outside, brass cleet-i (one iron bound), black swivel hook with a portion of rope pulley in stern quite new, three new knees, and new thwart. From all appearance, it hod not been long in the water. The boat does not belong to the Kaiuma. Port Chalmers. 3rd September. Arrived— Jessie Nichol, from Macquarie Island. She brings back Captain Donald Sinclair and his men, who have been sea elephant hunting for the last nine months. On the 14th May Captain Sinclair's rifle exploded, and the bail passed through his hand, rendering it useless for ten days. Later on a heavy sea set in, sweeping the men's huts, and carrying with it the food of every kind, together with 15 tuns of oil — the result of their labors. They existed until tbe arrival of the Jessie Nichol, on the 18th August, on a few biscuits, some oatmeal, and sea elephant flesh. They left the Island on the 20th August, and arrived this morning. *

The Government steamer Stella, Captain M'Kersfo, returned to port at 0 o'clock last evening. She loft Wellington on the 18th July, and has been engaged since that time in visiting all the light-houses in the South, supplying them with stores, &c. Tho steamer Wellington left Nelson at 1 p.m. yesterday, called at Picton, and arrived here at 4 o'clock this morning. Tho steamer Napier arrived from Picton at C o'clock this morning, having left there at 8 o'clock last night. On her last trip from this port to Blenheim, the Wairau bar was so bud that she could not cross, and therefore proceeded to Picton, where she discharged her Blenheim cargo, to go through by rail. She returns to Blenueim tnis evening. The Storinbird arrived hero at 1 p.m. to-day, after a run of 12 hours from Wanganui. She returns to Wanganui to-morrow; The s.s. Raugatiru, for Napier and Poverty Bay, sailed last evening. The steamer Taupo is announced to sail for I/yttelton and Port Chalmers at 4 p.m. to-day. The Manawatu proceeds to Wanganui this evening. In consequence of the steamer Wanaka having been detained Sontn, she will not arrive in Wellington until to-morrow, and leave here same day for Auckland via the East Coast. Tbe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company's Monthly Circular dated 18th July says :— The New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited, lias despatched the following vessels since the date of our last circular — June 27, Waimea, for Otago and Bluff Harbor, with 8 passengers; July 4, Bakaia, for Wellington via Plymouth, 280 passengers; July 12, Waitangi, for Canterbury via Plymouth, K3B passengers; Jnly 13, Waaroa, for Wellington, 48 passengers; July 13, City of Auckland, for Napier via Plymouth, 243 passengers ; July 15, Avona.for Auckland, 1 passenger. And will despatch— Jnly 24, Mataura, for Otago; August 3, Rangitikei, for Canterbury ; August 3, Loch Fleet, for Auckland ; August 6, Conna, for Wellington ; August 12, Waitara, for Bluff Harbor.
