HERR SCHOTT AT ST. GEORGE'S HALL.

The performance at St. George's Hall last evening attracted a very numerous audience, two " first appearances in Wellington" being announced. Of these Herr Sehott is entitled to the first place, his celebrity throughout all the Australian Colonies, as "an obeoist, being altogether exceptional. Great expectation therefore was excited, and, it is needless to say, was not disappointed. Her Schott's obeoplaying is simply marvellous. He combines most brilliant execution with profound expression, and his performance, altogether is admirable. Almost equally excellent is he as a pianist and Cor Anglais player ; in short, he is a thorough all-round musician, and we hope be may take up his abode permanently in Wellington. During his recent six months' stay in Auckland, Herr Sehott officiated as conductor of the Choral Society, which he drilled to a pitch of remarkable efficiency. The other "first appearance" last evening' was TVIr. Sidney, a good baritone singer, who ' gave several songs in capital style, and took part with the Lydia Howarde Troupe in the operetta " Nicotine ; or a Puff of Smoke," ' and the "Lucia" burlesque, both of which went extremely well.
