RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. THIS DAY.
(Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A middle-aged man named John Brown was brought up on a charge of drunkenness, committed on Saturday afternoon. He had nothing to say in his defence, and was fined 20s, or iv default 48 hours' imprisonment. An old woman named Elizabeth Downie was charged with having been drunk and incapable on the previous day. She appeared very penitent for her offence, and was let off with a caution. LUKACY AND DRINK. Maurice O'Connor was brought up on remand on a charge of suspected lunacy. It appeared that he had beeu locked up a week ago and under medical treatment through driuk, but having now recovered he was cautioned and discharged. HORSE AND CART UNPROTECTED. Arthur Lowe, charged on an information with leaving his horse and cart unprotected in the street, was fiued, it being his first oft'euee, 59 and costs.
