AUSTRALIAN NEWS. [Per Ringarooma.] (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Melbourne, 13th November.

All the colonies except Western Australia were represented at the Good Templar Conference in Melbourne. A resolution to form a Grand Lodge with legislative and judicial powers in directing the affairs of the Order throughout Australasia was agreed to. If accepted, the Australian team will play 22 of Invercargill on 12th January and the three following days. The attendance at Brisbane during the match on the 10th November was very limited. This is attributed to the high charge for admission. Queensland won the toss and went to the wickets first. They scored 3d in their first innings, of which Eagan made 22. In the second innings Brisbane was disposed of for 68, of which Petrie made 20, the combined Australian eleven winning in one innings with 23 runs to spare. The following were the scores of the combined team : — Horan, run out, 11; Spofforth, c Brissen, 12; Bannermin, c Bryant, 74; Bailey, c Geddes, 15 ; Blackham, c Slade, 5; Boyle, run out, 12; Allan, not out, 3 ; Garrett, b Slade, 0 ; Kendall, c Bryant, 3 ; Murdock, lbw, 2; Gregory, c Shepherd, 6: sundries, 6 ; total, 149.
