WHEREAS by "Tho Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it h enacted that tho Council of a borough constituted under that Act may take any land within tho borough for any of tha purposes of that Aci in the manner provided by the Second Part of "Tho Public Works Act, 1876 " : And whereas the Council oi tho Borough of the Cily of Wellington, requiring to take the land described in the Schedule hereto, for the purpose of waking a new street, one hundred links wide, loading from the northern side of Manners-street, in the city of Wellington, to the foreshore of the Harbor of Port Nicholson, bave laid before me the memorial referred to by section twonty-five of " The Public Works Act, 1870," praying me to declare, by Proclamation, that such land is taken for such purpose : And whereas it appears to mo that all things required by the saia " Municipal Corporations . Act, 1876," and '/The Public Works Act, 1876," to be done and performed to authorise the taking of such land, have been done and performed, and it is expedient to declare that such land is taken for tfie.purpose aforesaid : Now, therefore, I, George Augustus C'onstantine, MarquU of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Acts, and of any other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and doclare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is taken by tho Council of the said Borough for the purpose of making such new street as aforesaid; and that from and after the twentysecond day of August, one thousand eight hundred aud seventy-seven, Uie said land shall become vested in fee-simple in the Mayor, Burgesses, and Citizens of the City of Wellington, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, and interest of what kind waver, for the purpose of making the same into such new street as aforesaid. SCHEDULE. All that parcel of land containing two (2) roods, and being part of Town Sections two hundred and ten (210) and two hundred and eleven (211) on tho plan of the City of Wellington. Commencing at a point measured six (6) links from the point at which the boundary line between Sections two hundred and Kan (210) and two hundred and eleven (211) touches Manners-street, and extending from such commencing point North Bdeg. 9min., five hundred (500) links thence Easterly along the northern boundary of Sections two hundred and ten (210) and two hundred and eleven (211), one hundred and six and a half (10Ci) links ; thence Southerly by a line parallel to the Western boundary, five hundred (500) links, to Manners-street, and thence one hundred and six and a half (106 i) links along Manners-street to the commencing point. Given under tho hand of Hi-? Commencing on the westward at a point measured thirty-six (36) links from tho point at which the eastern Jwundary line of Section two hundred aud fifteen (215) touches Manners-street, and extending ftvin such commencing: point North BJe{r. 34min., four hundred (400) links* thenco Easterly along tho northern boundary of tho said reserve, one hundred and two and a half (102 i) links; thenco Southerly by a Hue parallel to the western boundary iour hundred and three (403) links, to Mannersfctreet, and thenco one hundred and three (103) links along Manners-str.et to the commencing point.
