ARRIVAL OF THE R.M.S.S. CITY OF NEW YORK.

The R.M.S.S. City of New York, 3019 tons, Captain Caverley, with the English June mails via San Francisco, arrived in this harbour at noon to-day, after a run of 19 hours from Napier. The City of New York is almost precisely similar to the City of San Francisco in lines, rig, engines, and internal fittings, but the City of New York measures ten tons larger than the other boat. If possible, the decorations of the various saloons, social hall, &c. are even more lavishly gorgeous, and certainly nothing finer in its way could be conceived. The City of New York is commanded by Capt. Q. M. Caverley, who was here once before in charge of the Granada. Mr. C. K. Hansen is chiei officer ; Mr. S. Y. Hauxhurst, chief enJinaer ; Dr. Hunter, surgeon ; and Mr. C. S. oslyn, purser, to whom we are indebted for files, passenger-list, aud the following report :— Arrived at Kandavu on Gth July, and transferred mails and passengers to the City of San Francisco; sailed at 5.30 p.m. same day, and arrived at Auckland at 7 20 p.m. on the 15th ; sailed at 3.30 a.m. on the 16th, and arrived at Napier at 4 p.m. on the 17th ; sailed at 5 p.m., and arrived here as above. Had head winds and heavy sea to Napier, since then fine weather. The City of New York sailed again for Lyttelton and Otago this afternoon.
