The Taranaki races on the first day were attended by over two thousand persons. Maiden Plate. — Glenarvy, 1; Chiquita, 2;. Brigham Young, 3. The following horses also ran: — Robroy, Bideawee, Minnie, Sunbeam, and Blenbuck. Time, 2min. 4dsec. The Taranaki Cup. — Opawa, 1 ; Tambourini, 2. Only two horses ran. Whynpt was scratched. The horses started almost in a canterj-witk Opawa keeping ahead. At the second round the speed of Tambourini increased, and the race really took place from the turn to the straight and to the post. The horses were almost neck and neck, and came in as above, Opawa winning by a short head. Tune, 3min. 49sec. \ Harbor Stakes. — Bideawee, 1; Robroy, 2; Shaughran, 3. Time, 3. mm. 40sec. Darkle also ran. Sunbeam was scratched. Ladies' Purse.— Opawa, 1 ; Tambourini and Resolution, a tie. Cornelia also ran, but was nowhere. Races, second day. — Handicap Hurdle Race - — Butcher Boy, 1; Brigham Young, 2; Gazelle, 3. Jockey Club Handicap, 100 soys. jj— Opawa, 1; Cornelia, 2 :Glenavy,- 3. Railway Stakes— Opawa, 1 ; Resolution, 2; Tambojirini, 3. Consolation Stakes— Flora, 1; Cornelia, 2; Shaughfaun, 3. ' Forced "* Handicap—'Resolution, 1. '
