EDUCATION BOARD.

. A meeting of the Education Board was held this morning. There were present the Hon. C. J. Pharazyn, , chairman, Messrs. Toomath and Bunny. ' BUCKLE-BTBBBT. Taylor read the resolution recently passed by a meeting of the parents of the children attending the Buckle-street school, to the effect that the room in Tory-street should be rented by the Board, and asked the Board to consider it. Mr. Mitchell's tender for the erection of a school-house was accepted. MAURICBVILLE. A tender of £200 by Mr. Mitchell, for building a school-house was accepted. : CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. The following curious letter was read : — " Secretary Education Board. Sir, I would like to know if Mr. Lillington techer of Masterton School is doing right in telling his pupils to lie down over a form till he beat's then* latter end. My boy with my advice will not sibmt to lay done and be beate in so disgracefall amannar neather by him or any other man : in risting the techer rent his coat I should very much like to know how I am to be payed as it was a new one. The question was postponed until next meeting. Various applications as to leasing certain of the Board's lands were also postponed. The rest of the business was confined to matters of routine, and the Board adjourned at noon to the regular day of meeting next month.
