4th December. The Hon Major Richardson has resigned his seat in the Provincial Council. t It is expected that a junction will be made to-morrow between the Clutha and the Port Chalmers Railway. At a meeting of the Presbytery it was resolved to present a memorial to the Government to prevent trains running to and from Port Chalmers oa Sunday. The Government is about to put up a boat-house for the rowing club. The Provincial Gazette contains an offer from the Provincial Government of a bonus of .£250 for the first whaling vessel leaving any port within the province fully equipped, and the same amount for any vessel that returns with a cargo of oil.
