4th December. There have been but few applications for shares in the Standard Insurance Company. sth December. Mr Alexander Saunders reports :—: — Buyers National Bank, 535 ; National Insurance, 19s ; Bank of New Zealand, £16 10s; Caledonian, £12 ; NewZealand Insurance, £71 10s. Sellers — New Zealand Insurance, £80 ; New Zealand Bank, £1G 12s 6d. James Gordon, who was suffering from horrors during the night, stabbed himself in the breast with his penknife, and then went out and drowned himself in Cox's Creek. The cricketing and vine banquet was a great success. There were 120 present. The Superintendent presided. Mr O'Rorke responded to the toast, "The Ministry." The game against the Cricketing Representative team is proceeding at Ellerslie. The day is a partial holiday, and the weather fine.
