THE NEW RAILWAY STATION.

The plans for the Wellington Railway Station are now completed, and an advertisement from Messrs Brogden and Sons' office appears is another column calling for tenders for the necessary work. The buildings to be constructed are as follows : — First, a small passenger station, about 43ft x loft, of the description technically known as a third-class station. This is designed} only for a time to serve the purpose of the terminus. It will be erected at Pipitea, and so soon as the new reclamation has beeu completed and the Wellington Terminus is built on the dcs» tined site, will serve as a wayside station, just one mile out from the terminus. It is to be of timber, weat.herboarded, with iron roof ; the platform 120 ft x 12. There will be an office and waiting room, each loft square ; a central passage, and an engineer's office at the end of the platform, Next come 3 the engine shed, GO feet long and 20 feet wide, capable of holding three locomotives, but only intended to accommodate two for the present. It will be built of corrugated iron, and is to be removed to the vicinity of the city terminus when that is erected. Lastly, the carriage sheds are to be SO feet long by 24 feet in breadth, constructed to hold four carriages each, 3ft feet in length. There will be two lines of rails running through the shed. It is to be built, like the engine shed, of corrugated iron, with a view to its subsequent removal to the new reclaimed site. The buildings, although of the simplest design, and quite without ornamentation, will have a very neat exterior, especially on the side fronting the road. Tenders are to be sent in on or before the 29th instant.
