THE DEATH OF LORD BROUGHAM.
A notable man has passed away. On the verge of his ninetieth year, Lord Brougham has quietly slipped from the stage of life upon which he was once so prominent an actor. His death' at Cannes, his favorite ret feat; in the, south of France, on the 7th instant, was as placid as his public careei* had been stormy. He died apparently in his sleep. He had lost his memory some time before his death, and in the last few weeks of his life his niind was awake only for a few seconds at a time. His remains were interred at the Protestant church near the noble lord's villa. His title descends to Mr. William Brougham, and his pension as ex-Lord-Chancellor to Lord (Jhelmsford. In the review of his life and labors by the press, the general estimate formed is far from favorable.
