His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Frederick E. Manning, !'-sq., of Hokianga, Auckland ; and John M. Stokes, Esq., Wellington, to be justices of the peace for the colony of New Zealand. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Captain James Fraser to he brevet mnjor in the Napier Militia ; and James Harvey, Esq., to be captain in the InvercargUl Rifle Volunteers. His Excellency the Governor, has .been,. j pleased to dismiss from the Militia Service I and cancel tiie commission held by Lieut.Colonel Charles Cecil Rookes, of the Wangantii Militia. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept.the resignation of the commission held by Ensign John Simeon, of the Auckland Militia. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to cancel the'eommisaions held by Captain James W. Mitchell and Lieutenant Thomas T. de Burgh Miller, Auokland Militia.
