RED CROSS ANNUAL. MEETING

The annual meeting of the Dunsandel Sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society was held, Mrs H. A. Brown presiding: over a good attendance. The report and balance sheet recorded quite a good year's work. Members had made dressing gowns, bed jackets, pyjamas, mittens, pullovers, bed sox, scarves and serviettes. A number of parcels of clothing for refugees in London and several parcels of old linen had been sent to the centre. It was decided to carry on with ithe monthly envelope system. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs H. A. Brown; vice-presidents, Mrs W. Tweedy and Mrs D. R. Jones; secretary, Mrs R. Barnett; treasurer, Miss C. Sheat; envelope secretary, Mrs W. Tweedy. WOMEN'S DIVISION Mrs Gilbert presided at the monthly meeting of the Dunsandel branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union. Motions of sympathy were passed with the Kane and Upston families and Mr and Mrs A. Clark in their bereavements, and with Mrs J. Scott and Mrs C. Wright in their illnesses. A quilt completed by members was forwarded to the Red Cross Centre in Christchurch. j Competition results were as follows: Cookery, Miss S. Upston 1, Mrs Chamberlain 2; handwork, Miss S.
