NEW GEORGE FORMBY FILM
FOR LEESTON
A new Pormby picture is always an event, but his latest Ealing production, "Come on George," surpasses even the best of his amazing list of successes. The story shows George selling ices on a racecourse and consumed with the desire to be a jockey himself. He is falsely accused of being a pickpocket arid because various circumstances point against him, Ihe takes to his heels and manages to get on a train by dropping into a horsebox, where 'he unwittingly becomes the companion of Maneater—the fiercest and most unmanageable racehorse that ever crippled a jockey. Being entirely ignorant of this fact he has no fear of the
animal, thereby gaining its confidence. When he does discover the truth however, he is simply terrified and nothing on earth will induce him to ride it, as promised, in a big race until he finds the savings of his girl's grandfather are at stake:
The picture, which will be screened at Leeston Theatre shortly, is chockful of amusing incidents, one of its biggest thrills being the final race, packed with excitement and suspense. George's ukelele is much in evidence during the course of the picture and he renders no less than four new catchy songs in his own irresistible style. A new leading lady in the person of pretty Patricia Kirkwood, heads the list of supporting players.
