POPULAR GUEST

MISS BETSY WOODARD

ENTERTAINED

SERVICES TO CHURCH AND COMMUNITY RECOGNISED

On Tuesday last, the Parish Hall at Leeston was crowded by parishioners and friends, who had come to do honour to Miss Betsy Woodard in view of her approaching marriage to Mr Norman Musson. The guest of the evening was presented, on her arrival, with a posy by Mrs A. J. Henderson on behalf of all present. After dancing and games a presentation of a silver tea service was made to Miss Woodard by the vicar on behalf of the parishioners of St. John's, Leeston, in appreciation of her services as organist for many years.

In his remarks, the vicar, Rev. E. Hanna, alluded to the willingness with which Miss Woodard had given her great musical talents not only in the service of her church as organist, chorister and soloist, but also at many public functions and on many civic occasions.

Miss Woodard acknowledged the gift and the vicar's remarks in very happy terms.

The many varied and useful gifts which were then presented to the guests of honour testified to the high estesm in which they are held.

The gifts and good wishes were acknowledged by Mr Norman Musson on behalf of Miss Woodard and himself.

The music was provided by Mrs Norquay and Mr R. H. Ford carried out the duties of M.C. with his usual efficiency. A very happy evening was brought to a close by the singing of the Nationel Anthem and Auld Lang Syne.
