SAVED FROM SEA
AIRMEN IN PERIL
A fourteen-year-old English girl living "somewhere on the coast" heard a crash on the sea. Forgetting the black-out she ran to her bedroom window, pulled aside the curtain —and saved the lives of four British airmen.
Their 'plane, after cruising around in a heavy mist until it had no more petrol, was forced down. Two of the men, injured, crawled aboard a collapsible raft. The other two Swam, pushing the raft, in the direction they believed the shore lay.
Then the light appeared. They were pushing away from land. Turning back, shouting, they were picked up by the girl's father and brother, who launched a boat.
