Two gift evenings in honour of Mrs D. G. Marshall (nee Myrtle Duff) were held prior to her wedding. The first was a kitchen evening held in the Parish Hall, Leeston, when she was the recipient of the good wishes and many beautiful and useful gifts from her many friends. Music for the dancing was provided by Redway's Orchestra and Mr T. J. Free was M.C. The, second was organised by the girls senior Bible Class and took the form of a social evening at the Vicarage, when she was presented with a picture by the members of the class.

A presentation to Miss Rosa ißowden, who recently resigned ifrom the board's employment, was made to her by members at the meeting yesterday of the SpringsEllesmere Power Board. The chairman, Mr A. E. LangdaleHunt, spoke of the long time during which Miss^owden had been in the service of the board, of the very satisfactory nature of the association and of the excellent quality of her work. Members felt that they could not let her go without some memento of her employment [with the board, and he presented her, on their behalf, with a handsome brass fire-screen. Coupled with the gift was a cordial expression of good wishes for a happy and prosperous future. Mr H. Neave also spoke on behalf of members. Miss Bowden, returning thanksl, said that she had always enjoyed her work with the board and spoke of the excellent manner in which she had been treated, which had made her duties a pleasure.
