AN ALERT SLEUTH
-^~- . SCENT OF CIGAR SMOKE LED TO ARREST A Paris detective's taste in cigars recently led to the breaking-up of a gang which had been systematically pillaging high-class cigar shops in Paris for several months. The detective, due of four assigned specially to deal with this case, passed in the street two young men smoking cigars. The aroma of the cigars convinced him that they were of the best quality, and the smokers did not look like the sort of people who smoked expensive cigars. He followed the pair to rendezvous they had with six receivers of the stolen goods. The whole eight were finally arrested and admitted that they were responsible for the robberies.
