The New Zealand Meat Producers Board will not hold its usual fat lamb competition this year.
The annual collection of eggs for the Presbyterian orphanages is now being made by the members of the congregation at Killinchy and these gifts will be received at the service in that church on Sunday evening.
A complaint that bottles had been broken in the pool of the Halswell river at Motukarara which was used by the people of the district as a swimming place, was made by Mr F. Miller at the meeting of the E'llesmere Lands Drainage Board on Wednesday. Apparently, be said, the motive was to try and get some fish by using explosive. A member: All the fish that could be got there is "harmless. Mr F. Miller added that the bathers would be exposed to the danger of having their feet cut on the broken glass and he commented severely on the irresponsible action of those who had broken the bottles there,
