MOTHERS' UNION
Service was conducted by the Rev. "G. L. Harold at St. James's Church on the occasion of the Mothers' V» triion Inonthly .... meeting. Afterwards Mrs Harold presided at the Parish Hall, when" a social afternoon was held. Mrs A. J. Beamsley contributed a vocal solo and Mrs R. F. Pilkington a recitation. A character competition was won by Mrs R. B. Willis and a telegram competition by Mrs J. Ballagh. It was decided to hold a euchre social shortly in aid of funds for the fancy dress dance. A large number of parcels of clothing were handed in for St. Martin's House of Help in Christchurch. The hostesses were Mesdames R. Hampton, G. A. Watson, W. Hickman, and D. Wright. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs F. C. Moorhead have returned from a holiday visit to Wellington and New Plymouth. Mr and Mrs F. Carr, of Ross, West Coast, are visiting relatives in the township. Mrs R. F. Pilkington left for .Wellington at the week-end to sfttend the Women's Institute conference.
