TRAP SHOOTING
ELLESMERE AND METHVEN
HOLD PRACTICE
In view of the New Zealand trapshooting championships to be held at Leeston next week under the auspices of the Ellesmere and Methven Gun Clubs, members of both clubs gathered at Leeston on Saturday for a practice shoot at clays and sparrows. Fine weather prevailed, but the 21 shooters who took part found the sparrows very tricky, and the scoring was scarcely up to championship standard! In a six-bird sparrow shoot, the only competitor to score a possible was R. L. Donald. Those with five on were W. L. Donald, L. W. Prosser, W. H. Winchester, R. W. Jackman, F. L. Graham, and A. E. Wilson. A four-bird sparrow shoot followed and possibles were gained by W. L. Donald, L. W. Prosser, M. Holland, Anderson, W. H. Winchester, R. W. Jackman, and A. E.Wilson. - A nine-bird clay sweep was held and those with all on were M. Holland, Anderson, R. L. Donald, J. F. Parkin, and L. C. Anderson. These men divided the sweep money. Others with one down were W. L. Donald, F. L. Graham, W. Anderson, A. McLeod, T. S. Harrison, and J. T. Corbitt. In a first-miss-out at clays, E. A. Washbourne won at the end of the seventh round.
