CANTERBURY DISTRICT

COMPETITION.

There were 77 entries in the Canterbury district fat lamb competition conducted by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, and there were 150 pens of fat lambs for the judges at | the Kaiapoi meat works on Friday, where the competition was judged. It says much for the quality of the lambs produced in the Springs and Ellesmere districts when it is stated that of the six prize-winners, four were competitors from either of these two districts, and of the additional nine selected, with those that were placed in the competition, to be sent to the United Kingdom to form part of the national entry, five came from the districts mentioned. Hall,- Brookside, 331b., 331b., 331b. 6 Included in the nine entries selected for portion of the larger competition were those of Messrs A. J. Sheat (Killinchy). Canterbury Seed Company (Oakleigh), T. W. Gilbert (Leeston), P. V. Bailey (Springston) and E. R. V. Winter (Brookside).
