PLUNKET SOCIETY'S BALL

AT SOUTHBRIDGE ON THURSDAY.

One of the foremost social functions in Ellesmere during the season is the annual ball of the Ellesmere

Plunket Society. In past years it has always been a success, and this year the ,same result is anticipated, for on Thursday next, at Southbridge Town Hall, the society's dance is to. be held. It has deservedly maintained its prestige and popularity amongst Ellesmere dance-goers, and with even those from further afield, not only by the enthusiasm and hard work of the members of the organising committee, the worthiness of the cause, than of which none could be better, but by the attractive programmes provided and the excellence of the music played for the dances. Thursday's programme should prove no exception to this rule, for the programme caters for all tastes of dancers and there will be novelty ones as well, while Fred Smith's Orchestra will play the music. This is a guarantee that the time will be correct, while the quality of the music will render it enjoyable also to those who prefer to sit, watch and listen. The organising committee has done its work well and the joint secretaries, Mr and Mrs D. W. Hayes, of Southbridge, from experience know just what is wanted and all have done everything in their power to cater for the large throng of dancers expected at the hall on Thursday evening. The supper will be catered for by members of the society, and with this important department in generous and capable hands, it can be assured that supper will be in keeping with the importance of the occasion.

As all readers know, the proceeds from the dance will be used to help on the work of the society, and there are many calls nowadays upon the funds and the services rendered by it. All are invited to show, by their presence at the ball, that they are in sympathy with the humanitarian objectives of the society and are desirous in this manner of assisting its I finances.
