BLACKLOCK'S SUCCESSES.
BEATS AUSTRALIAN RIDER,
Riders from Canterbury, Welling-; ton, Otago and Australia competed in a thrilling programme of broadsiding at the Monica Park Speedway on Saturday evening. The feature of the evening was the sequence pi successes by Canterbury's star1 rider, Charlie Blacklock, who secured four first places and one second.
The match race between Blacklock and Cyril Anderson, of Australia, resulted in a decisive win for the former. The time was lmin 21sec, easily the fastest of the night, and within one-fifth of a second of the season's record established under racing conditions. In the inter-provincial contest, Canterbury had a good win from Otago, with Wellington a poor third. Three false starts were made, and the fourth atlempt was successful. In the third lap in the first slide, Duckett (Australia) fell and Tompkins (Australia) ran into him before he had regained his feet, falling heavily. Duckett received a broken arm. 1
