BROADSIDING
SIX INTERNATIONALS FOR
MONICA PARK,
CANTERBURY v. OTAGO v.
WELLINGTON,
Six international riders will compete at Monica Park Speedway on Saturday night, when the programme of broadsiding will be one of the finest presented this season. Only first division riders will compete at this meeting, and this fact gives some indication of the high standard of the ' programme.
At the head of the list is Cyril Anderson, the speedy, daring Australia^, who is so good that he conquered Dicky Case. His times on the Australian tracks have been extraordinary, and those who remember him from last season as a brilliant broadsider, will know what to expect. In the meantime he has enhanced his great reputation in international contests. Anderson is one of the world's best.
And there is Jack Bishop and Frank Duckett, also Australian stars, and to complete this Australian invasion, there are Laurie Packer and Tommy Tompkins. The sixth international is Charlie Blacklock, the Canterbury crack, whose riding this season has electrified the crowds.
Then there will be a three-cornered interprovincial contest between Otago, Wellington and Canterbury teams. The cream of Canterbury riders will uphold the reputation of the province. There is also an all-stars handicap with short "limits for international and first division riders, and match and scratch races are down for decision. Incidentally the Canterbury [man putting up the fastest time in ' heat or final of scratch races will j have, the right to challenge Blacklock! ifor the Chevrolet Gold Helmet later, on. The season will close shortly. The gates will be opened at 6.30 p.m.
