A SURE DIVIDEND

It is a significant fact that an overwhelming majority of the businesses which are making headway afr the-present-time are those whose sales are stimulated by a judicious measure of newspaper advertising—the quickest, surest and most regular form of publicity. It is a point that no business executive can afford to ignore. Failure, to advertise, where the means of doing so are available at moderate cost, is regarded by many shrewd observers as one of the signs of business decline. To a greater extent than ever before the people are asking for goods which they have seen advertised, for they recognise that a vendor must stand behind a statement he makes in print. There is no better means of quickly conveying a- message to the residents of Ellesmere than by using space in the Guardian, which is read by every member of the household. Its coverage of the district is both thorough and regular, and it has a quality as well as quantity circulation. The purchasing capacity of its readers is not excelled by that of the people in any other district in the Dominion, and its prestige is such that an investment upon space in its columns is bound to produce a dividend, provided the advertiser is able to give the service desired. A PERPETUAL BATTLE. Tiere is no such thing as a business remaining stationary. Conditions are such that it must either progress or lose ground. Business to-day is a perpetual battle and the head of a firm who holds the belief that, because he has advertised in the past and established a sound connexion, he can rest upon his oars in a time of general trade depression, is clinging to a false hope. Victory goes to the strong and vigorous, the firm that is ever striving to secure a larger share of trade, and using every means at its command of achieving that end. PRINTING SERVICE. The Guardian has always striven to develop and maintain a job printing service equal to the best that .can be given anywhere in New Zealand. Its plant has been kept up-to-date; its staff is composed of active, efficient operatives, capable of producing a good class of work at reasonable cost, and always having it ready right on time. The loyalty of the people toward the paper and its printing department for many years affords the best proof that the service given has been satisfactory in every respect. Social committees are well aware of the advantages of placing their printing orders with the Guardian, which has always treated them generously in the matter of news paragraphs and reports of their functions. A DISTRICT INSTITUTION. The future of the Guardian is dependent upon the progress of the district it serves. Its aim, therefore, is to promote the interests, not of any one portion, but of the district as a whole, and in striving to achieve that aim it asks for the continued loyal co-operation of every citizen who has the welfare of the district at heart.
