A TERRIBLE SHAME!
For days he had been going about his work, saying to himself, "I see" a sheet of flame." It was the only line he had to speak at the coming thea-» tricals, and now, as he waited in the wings for his cue, he was actually trembling lest he should forget those i few words. At last came the cue, and he dashed on. "I she a seat of flame," he yelled, and then, as the awful truth struck jhome, "I see a shate of fleem." . . . "I mean . . . I see a flate of sheem." Desperation seized him. "I slee a shate of fleem." Came a hoarse voice from the wings: "Come off, you fool!" but he was not to be outdone. As a last despairing effort he yelled, "I 'slay a fleet of shame." . . . Then he fainted.
