CONCERT FOR SUNDAY SCHOOL,.

There was a moderate attendance at the Doyleston Hall on Saturday evening, when a party from Southbridge gave an enjoyable concert for the benefit of the Methodist Sunday School. The programme was received with appreciative- applause. The Rev. G. P. Hunt, who presided, explained that the object was to raise funds for the renovation of the Sunday School Hall, erected in 1894 on the site given by Mr W. Collett. The late Mr John Barnett had commenced the Sunday School prior to this date in the public school build- ! ing. His son, Mr A. W. Barnett, was superintendent for a time and he, with others now residing elsewhere, still showed an interest in the school. ' When the necessary funds were in hand, the renovation work would be commenced.

The following were the items:

J Pianoforte duet, Mr and Mrs Couch; solo, Mrs Rowan; Seann Triubhais, Miss Sylvia Bennett; quartette, Mr and Mrs Mackie and Mr and Mrs Couch; solo, Mrs Eggelton; recitation, Mrs Bennett; solo, Mrs Mackie; solo, Mr G. Couch; duet, Messrs Mackie and Couch; quartette; solo, Mrs Rowan; solo, Mr Goulden; recitation, Mrs Bennett; duet, Mr and Mrs Couch; solo, Mrs Eggelton; Highland Fling, Miss Sylvia Bennett; dialogue, "A Bid for Matrimony." The latter item was full of humour and was excellently acted. Mr C. Bowis expressed thanks to Mr Couch and his party for their assistance.
