SOUTHBRIDGE
AKAROA VISITORS.
Last Friday the teachers and pupils of the secondary department of the Akaroa District High School paid a return visit to the pupils of the Southbridge District High School. Arriving at about half-past eleven, the visitors were entertained at morning tea, where they were welcomed by the Southbridge headmaster, Mr W. C. Eggelton. Adjournment was made to the playground, where a game of basketball was played. Luncheon was served in the cookery room, after which ' the pupils had a spare hour in which to fraternise. In the afternoon hockey, football and tennis matches were played. In the evening, the visitors were entertained at a social in the parish hall by the parents and scholars. Mr Adam McPherson, chairman of the committee, expressed the school's pleasure at being able to entertain the visitors. The Akaroa pupils were billeted for the night at various homes, and left for home at eight the following morning. Thanks are extended to the ladies who helped to make the visit a success and to those parents who provided hospitality for the visitors.
