NOTES ON THE PLAY.
The Southbridge v. Leestgn first grade match was played on the Southbridge ground, where the spectators were treated to a game in which the pace, from whistle to whistle, was fast and furious, the scene of play changing from end to end of the ground in rapid succession. It could not be said that either team asserted superiority over the other; opportunity came and was accepted. In the first spell, honours were even, each team scoring one goal, but in the second spell Southbridge scored another two goals, the game ending: Southbridge 3, Leeston 1.
For the final match between the Leeston and Southbridge teams, to be played next Saturday on the High School ground, Mr Throp, of Christchurch, will referee. A fine display of hockey.will be expected. A collection will be taken for the Sub-As-sociation's funds.
