COMPETITIONS CONCLUDED.

TOURNAMENT ON FRIDAY.

The following were the results of the school games played on Thursday last:—

Basketball. Lakeside-Sedgemere 9, Killinchy 3.

Football. j Sotuhbridge 30 v. Leeston 0. j Dunsandel-Killinchy 13 v. Lake-; side-Sedgemere 3. For Dunsandel, tries Were scored by Meredith (2) and Brown (1). Walker converted two tries. For Lake-side-Sedgemere, Alexander - scored a try. The basketball competition has been won by Dunsandel, who have won all their games. The runners-up are Doyleston, who have suffered only one defeat. Next in order come Leeston, Sedgemere-Lakeside, Killinchy, Irwell and Brookside. The football competition has been won by Southbridge, who have won all their games, and who have put up a very fine performance by scoring 174 points, while only three have j been scored against them. Their line has not been crossed. The runners|up are Irwell-Brookside-Doyleston. Next in order come Leeston, Dunsan-del-Killinchy and Lakeside-Sedge-mere. In both competitions one or two games have not been played, owing to postponements, due to weather or other causes. These games will foe played later if circumstances permit, but the result cannot affect the position of the winning teams.

TOURNAMENT ARRANGEMENTS

'At a meeting of the Ellesmere School Sports Association last week, Mr E. Wilson presiding, final arrangements were made for the tournament to. be held next Friday. The secretary reported that entries had been received from 50 teams— Football, 25; basketball, 21; hockey, !4. The hockey games and the secondary schools football games would be played by the pupils of the Southbridge District High School. These would be of an exhibition nature between teams of as nearly equal strength as possible. It was decided that a- start should be made, at 10 a.m. sharp and that a ! half-time interval between 12.15 p.m. and 12.45 p.m. be observed for luncheon. Boiling water will be avail* able free on the ground. The following officials were appointed: 1 Timekeepers, Messrs W. C. Eggelton and A. McCallum; results and referees, Mr R. Bruce; teams marshal, Mr E. W. Wilson; blackboard stewards, Messrs F. Smith and J. A. Mackie; teams' stewards, Messrs E. Davison and G. B. Couch; ground stewards, Messrs C. M. Blake and A. Breward; secretary, Mr W. H. Cartwright. The following draw was prepared:

In all, over 300 children will be competing .and some good games should be witnessed in the afternoon, when the final stages of the various competitions are being reached. A cordial invitation is extended to all interested to be present. A total of 41 games will have to be played before the winners are found in the various sections, so it is essential that a start be made punctually at 10 a.m. The first games to be played in football are Leeston B \\ Southbridge C, Leeston A v. Irwell (open grade) and Leeston v. Lakeside-Sedgemere (lightweights). The first basketball games are Leeston A v. KiUinchy, Leeston B v. Irwell, Lakeside-Sedge-mere v. Dunsandel.
