DRAINAGE BOARD WILL CONSIDER
NEXT WEEK,
In reply to an enquiry made by the Guardian yesterday, Mr James Mackenzie, secretary of the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board, stated fhat a report and sketch had been received from Mr R. T. Stewart upon his scheme for providing a permanent outlet for Lake Ellesmere through the shingle ridge which the" lake from the sea. Accompanying the report is an estimate of the cost of providing, installing and operating the hydraulic sluicing plant which Mr Stewart is confident will solve the problem of preventing the flooding of large areas of land surrounding the lake.
Mr Mackenzie stated that the report would be considered by the Drainage Board at its meeting to-morrow week. The Guardian will publish for the information of its many readers who are vitally interested, the report and the Drainage Board's discussion upon it.
