RELIEF FOR UNEMPLOYED
GOOD RESPONSE TO APPEAL,
FURTHER DONATIONS ACKNOWLEDGED.
Impelled by sympathy for - those in needy circumstances through lack of employment, residents .in and around Leeston have responded generously to the appeal launched last week for donations of potatoes. As soon as there are sufficient sacks to fill a truck they will be sent to the Relief Depot in Christehurch.
. Further contributions are acknowledged from the following: Messrs E. Moriarty, W. McLaughlin, C. Doyle, P. Luddy, J. O'Boyle, W. Millar, F. McCormick, J. J. O'Boyle, J. Rourke, F. Millar and R. G. Power.
Other donations will be acknowledged as they are received. Those who are not in a position to give potatoes, but who may have grain qr other farm produce to spare, are assured that this will he equally acceptable, and donations of cash will be gratefully received by those who prefer to contribute in this form. The produce is being stored by Mr Kelieher, Leeston Hotel, to whom offerings should be sent.
